A finished video, ProRes export, RAW clip, project archive, or audio-visual master can be huge. That is not a mistake. It is often the reason the file has value. Compressing it through a chat app or forcing it into the wrong tool can damage the work before the client even sees it.
The right transfer workflow keeps the file intact. Upload the original, create a private link, and let the recipient download the actual file rather than a downgraded preview.
Do not make the client join a workspace
A client waiting for a final cut does not want a permissions puzzle. They want the file. Account-free download is useful because it keeps the handoff focused: open link, download, review.
The sender can still keep control with expiry, download limits, passwords, and Vault. The recipient does not need to become part of your internal system.
Unreleased work should stay private
