Free and paid transfers use the same encryption: TLS 1.3 on the wire, AES-256 at rest. Flip the E2EE toggle and your browser encrypts the files with AES-256-GCM before upload; the decryption key lives only in the transfer link, so our servers receive data they cannot open.
When a link expires or hits its download limit, the files are permanently deleted. No cold storage, no archive, no residual copy waiting to be breached.
And with no account required, there is no identity attached to the transfer in the first place. Privacy by architecture, not by promise.

How do I send large files for free?

Is Sandra really free for large file transfers?
Yes. Transfers up to 5 GB are completely free with no account and no credit card. Paid plans unlock bigger transfers (1 TB on Pro), permanent links, password protection, download analytics, and encrypted Vault storage. But the core product, encrypted file transfer, is free.
Do I need an account to send large files with Sandra?
No. Sandra is designed to work without an account. Drop your files, get a link, share it. The recipient also needs no account to download. An optional free account unlocks transfer history and additional features.
How secure are Sandra's free file transfers?
Every transfer is protected by TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest. On top of that, AES-256-GCM client-side end-to-end encryption is available as a one-tap toggle on every transfer, including free ones. When you enable it, files are encrypted in your browser before upload and the decryption key sits only in the URL fragment, so Sandra never sees the key.
What is the maximum file size I can send for free?
Up to 5 GB per transfer on the free plan, which covers most everyday cases: videos, design archives, RAW photo collections, and large project folders. If you regularly move more, Pro raises the limit to 1 TB per transfer and Business to 2 TB, in any format, with no compression.
How long do free transfer links stay active?
Transfer links expire automatically based on your settings. After expiry, files are permanently deleted from Sandra's servers. You can also set a download limit; the link deactivates after a set number of downloads.
Does Sandra track me or scan my files?
No. Sandra does not use advertising trackers, does not analyze file contents, does not train AI on them, and does not build behavioral profiles. With the E2EE toggle on, files are encrypted in your browser before upload and are unreadable to us even if we wanted to look.
